The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2024) is an all-India entrance examination conducted for admission to undergraduate and postgraduate law programs offered by 22 National Law Universities (NLUs) and other participating law schools in India. The CLAT exam is conducted every year, one of the country’s most sought-after entrance examinations. The CLAT 2024 exam is expected to be conducted in December 2023, and the application process will likely start in August 2023.
CLAT 2024 Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for the CLAT 2024 exam will be announced along with the official notification. However, the eligibility criteria for the previous year’s exam can give us an idea about what to expect. In 2023, the eligibility criteria for the CLAT exam were as follows:
For Undergraduate Programs:
- The candidate should have passed the XII or equivalent examination with a minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates).
- Candidates appearing for the 10+2 or equivalent examination in 2023 are also eligible to apply.
- There is no upper age limit criteria for appearing in the CLAT exam.
For Postgraduate Programs:
- The candidate should have an LLB degree or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST candidates).
- Candidates appearing for the final semester/ year examination of their LLB degree or equivalent in 2023 are also eligible to apply.
- There is no upper age limit criteria in the CLAT exam.

CLAT 2024 Exam Pattern
The CLAT 2024 exam pattern is most likely to be similar to the previous year’s. The exam will be conducted in online mode, and the duration of the exam will be 2 hours. The question paper will include MCQ as well as TITA type questions and will be divided into the following sections:

- Current Affairs, including General Knowledge

For Postgraduate Programs:

The number of questions and the marks allotted to each section may vary from year to year. In the previous year’s exam, there were 150 questions in the CLAT UG exam and 120 in the CLAT PG exam, and each question carries 1 mark. There was a negative marking for every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks were deducted.

CLAT 2024: Syllabus
The undergraduate-level syllabus for CLAT includes five sections:
